The 3D seismic measurements in the Kurpfalz region start in week 47

The 3D seismic measurements in the Kurpfalz region start in week 47.
In the last week of November, our vibro-trucks will be on the road in the Kurpfalz region. They will carry out a measurement using the 3D seismic method. Their purpose is quality assurance. The measurement area includes parts of the municipalities of Mannheim, Viernheim, Heddesheim, Hirschberg, Ladenburg, Ilvesheim and Edingen-Neckarhausen.
For the measurements, an earth microphone, a so-called geophone (the size of a lunch box), is inserted into the ground approximately every 50 meters. These small measuring devices only record the sound waves of the measurement. The recorded data gives the geologists a very precise picture (similar to an ultrasound measurement) of where the largest reservoirs for deep thermal water are located and how they can be reached most safely. The geophones are now being measured and deployed. The measurement vehicles, which generate the sound waves required for the measurement in the ground, will drive along the defined paths and roads at the end of November.
