Geophon

Geophones are earth microphones that only record sound waves from underground. They enable seismic ground investigations, such as those now taking place in the Kurpfalz region. This is why they can currently be seen in many places there, often weighted down with a small sandbag. These small bags hold the geophones in position and protect them from external influences, e.g. raindrops.
The geophones also report their status and indicate this with a small flashing light. Green flashing means that the device is ready to receive and can register sound waves. Red flashing indicates a fault. An employee of the company carrying out the work will then come by and replace the geophone. If there is no flashing, the device is in energy-saving mode, which is always the case between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., for example.

Please leave the geophones in place and do not change anything. If you have any questions, please contact us at seismik@v-er.eu.
